Michigan's unemployment rate dropped slightly in July to 15 percent. That's two-tenths of a percentage point lower than it was was in June.

The Michigan Department of Energy, Labor and Economic Growth says that means there were 9 thousand fewer unemployed people in July than in June. The department attributes that mostly to more summer jobs in the tourism industry.
