Those in support of civil rights may have something to cheer about as the state launched a new chapter of an organization fighting for immigration reform.
The state played host to what some may consider vital players in the civil rights community.
The Michigan Coalition of Reform Immigration for America kicked off with Press Conferences in nine Michigan communities including Lansing and Newaygo.
Ester Lopez is National Director of Civil Rights for the United food and Commercial workers. She was one of the activists who toured the state to speak on immigration reform.
"Our Country needs real solutions on immigration issues, American Workers and American Families need real solutions and that means comprehensive immigration reform. What we want is comprehensive immigration reform that addresses once and for all the ability of families to be united, legalize workers and insure that we don't find ourselves in the same situation five or ten years from now."
