The governor says ten counties will be seeing money from transportation grants soon.
Over 5 million dollars in transportation enhancement grant funds will be going to 10 counties across the state. Most of the counties say they will be using the money to beautify roads to attract tourism.
Anita Richardson is with the Michigan Department of Transportation.
"Anytime you can basically increase the appearance of an area, if you can aid the area in terms of attracting visitors you're going to increase visitors. So these transportation funds are allocated specifically for that purpose. So street-scaping, bike paths, anything that will increase business and recreational use in the area, that's going to help a community."
Work on the projects is expected to be finished sometime in 2010
