LANSING -- Governor Jennifer Granholm has ordered the Department of Natural Resources and the Department of Environmental Quality be merged into one department by January.

The new title will be the Department of Natural Resources and Environment. There will be one director to oversee all DNRE programs.

The chair of the House committee for natural resources says they will begin hashing out details of the department next week.
