Some Northern Michigan Counties will receive funding to rehabilitate homes in their area.
The grants were awarded as part of the Housing Preservation Grant Program by the U.S Department of Agriculture.
Charlayne Grawey is the director of a housing rehabilitation program in Cheboygan which is the county that received the most money through the grants. She says the money is well needed.
"In Cheboygan we're seeing a lot of people who are struggling to make their home mortgage payment let alone make any home repairs. With this housing preservation grant it allows homeowners to remain in their home."
Cheboygan, Ogemaw, Emmet and Presque Isle counties received grants totaling over one hundred and twenty Seven thousand dollars.
